DC Studios’ James Gunn has debunked a huge rumor about his Superman reboot

Despite black adam bringing Henry Cavill’s Superman back into his mid-credits scene and the actor then joking that we’d see him more as the Man of Steel, it was announced in December that Cavill’s time as Superman was officially over. . Instead, DC Studios co-head James Gunn is writing a Superman reboot that will focus on a younger version of Kal-El/Clark Kent. Now the director has debunked a huge rumor surrounding this upcoming DC movie.

It was recently reported that Euphoria Yup The Kissing Booth Trilogy star Jacob Elordi has been cast as the next Superman. While Elordi definitely fits the “younger” Superman bill since he was 25 (plus there’s already fan art of him as a character), James Gunn said in Chirping it’s nowhere near casting the popular DC superhero as the script for the reboot isn’t finished. He explained:

I don’t think anyone has been cast as Superman yet. Casting, as is almost always the case with me, will happen after the script is nearly complete, and it’s not. We’ll be announcing a few things shortly, but the Superman cast won’t be a part of it.

This is just the latest example of James Gunn using social media to tear down inaccurate information about what he and Peter Safran have in the works at DC Studios. More information on the DCU slate may be coming soon, but we’re a long way from knowing who will succeed Henry Cavill as the next cinematic Superman, as Gunn is a long way from finishing the script for the reboot. That’s not to say Jacob Elordi still can’t be considered a contender at some point, but until Gunn finishes putting his Superman story together, or at least close to finishing it, casting isn’t on the table.

Besides the fact that Superman in James Gunn’s reboot is a younger man, the Guardians of the Galaxy The director also clarified that it would not be an origin story and that he would not be meeting the main characters of the Superman mythos “for the first time.” It makes the Superman reboot look inspired the Batman, while Matt Reeves’ version of the Caped Crusader introduced audiences to Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne two years after his vigilante crusade, but didn’t explain how he ended up wearing the cape and cowl. Beyond that, we don’t know what to expect from the Superman reboot, including whether it will be a standalone affair or part of a new shared universe.

Rest assured, once we announce who will be playing Superman in the James Gunn reboot, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, if you’re looking to see a live-action Superman, check out Tyler Hoechlin’s rendition at superman and laws. The first two episodes of this CW show can be streamed with an HBO Max subscription, with season three premiering in March.
