ABC Abbott Elementary School it’s been doing exceptionally well lately, as it took awards season by storm and was recently renewed for a third season. It has also received many comparisons with Office in terms of format, character personalities, and slow romance (I’m looking at you, Gregory, and Janine). Plus, fans always want something to make them even happier. they really want Professors Janine and Gregory to finally get together. However, star Tyler James Williams has some thoughts on the matter.
Classic TV sitcoms are known for having that amazing couple, be it Jesse and Rebecca Sold outFrom Zack and Kelly saved by the bellFrom Ross and Rachel Friendsor even more modern like Jim and Pam from Office. It’s been clear from the start that grumpy Gregory and spirited Janine are the definition of opposites attract, but it may be a while before the two come to their senses.
Tyler James Williams, who plays the first grade teacher, spoke to BuzzFeed News at the Golden Globes about the teachers’ possible romance. These two characters certainly aren’t the first to experience the friend-lover trope, and they won’t be the last, however, Williams says there are so many times you can have this story:
Hopefully their legacy is that we’ve found a unique way to say “will they, won’t they” even in the midst of TV history for so long. How many ways can you reinvent the wheel? I hope we can find a way to make each other better.
As hard as it is to wait, and as much as we wish they were together, it makes sense that Gregory and Janine don’t fit into the usual trope. The fact that it has been done so many times and Abbott Elementary School is to find another way to say it’s refreshing. It’s clear that the two have feelings for each other, but they keep pushing them away and focus on other things, like work.
Tyler James Williams is no stranger to sitcoms and the tropes that go with them. He was the cult’s favorite star Everyone hates Chris, and has opened up about his unique perspective when it comes to working with abbot‘s Child Stars. I’d definitely have a thought or two about what’s been done over and over again in sitcoms, and it’s nice to know that the ABC sitcom is finding new ways to tell funny stories.
However, even as they seek to subvert clichés, Janine and Gregory make the list of sitcom relationships, having been compared to parks and entertainmentThey are also Ben and Leslie. now that Abbott Elementary School has been revamped, it should be interesting to see what happens to the masters as the series progresses. Even if a romantic relationship doesn’t happen for a while, fans will likely see their friendship continue to blossom. Where it goes from there, we’ll just have to tune in to look.
