Sold out it showed the loving bond of the Tanner family, especially between sisters DJ, Stephanie and Michelle. Everyone faced their own struggles and growing pains over the sitcom’s eight seasons, but Stephanie (played by Jodie Sweetin) had the added issues of a middle child. Viewers have seen the middle child struggle a bit to find his place in the original series’ family, but unlike her character, Sweetin grew up an only child off-screen. Though their lives have diverged in many ways, the Sold out the alum recalled the first time she truly felt like a middle child like Stephanie.
The sitcom veteran told his middle son an anecdote while discussing the The collapse of Mayim Bialik podcasts. The argument came up when Sweetin and Bialik talked about their time on the ABC sitcom. Bialik’s fascination stemmed from the fact that she mothered hers as the middle child and she said she was obsessed with the details of her being the middle child. They call me cat The star felt Stephanie’s dynamic as central Tanner was relatable and asked Sweetin how that dynamic was reflected on and off screen. The question led to more complete home star recalling a moment from a classic Sold out episode. Sweetin shared:
There is an episode in Full House where Jesse and Becky leave the house. You know, when Jesse moved in, he moved into Stephanie’s old room with the pink bunnies. Now the pink bunnies are said to have been hand cut by Pamela, Stephanie’s mother. [and] Jesse’s sister moved into Stephanie’s room when she was little. So those pink bunnies were [in] Stephanie’s room. [In] the episode where Jesse moves out, I think Michelle gives Jesse the pink bunny. And I was like, ‘But these are mine.’ Not like in real life, but looking back now, I’m like… “Oh, I really know what it’s like to be a middle child.” But it would have been cuter if Michelle had… There were definitely those times as an only child where I was really like, ‘Oh, so this is the in-between experience.’
Playing Stephanie Tanner has allowed Sweetin to live a life she hasn’t lived off screen. Uncle Jesse leaving the Tanner family in the Season 4 episode “Fuller House” was one of the original series’ saddest moments. While fans were moved by the special moment between Uncle Jesse and Michelle, the TV star couldn’t understand why Stephanie’s bunnies weren’t her moment. But she showed how the dynamics of television can translate into real life even decades after the episode aired.
As actress Stephanie Tanner pointed out, Michelle was the cute little sister. DJ was the smart and responsible older sister. But Stephanie was the middle sibling who needed attention and a distinct personality from her sisters. Luckily, being a middle child only existed on the classic sitcom set. Sweetin recalled being grateful for her family on TV, but loving her life as an only child in her real family.
It was fun having this fake family, but I’m not going to lie, it was nice to be able to come home as an only child and say, “I just have to worry about myself.”
Fortunately, he was able to put the “middle child syndrome” behind him. Sold out place. That didn’t stop Sweetin and TV big sister Candace Cameron Bure from forming a sisterly bond on and off screen when they reunited to star in the Netflix series. more complete house sequel series. Lately, however, fans have been seeing a rift between the sisters on TV, as Sweetin showed her support for Jojo Siwa following her comments on Cameron Bure’s controversial “traditional marriage” statements.
Sweetin’s public endorsement of Siwa reportedly led the GAC family star to unfollow his TV sis on Instagram. Bure was reportedly angry with Sweetin for not handling the situation privately. The disagreement between them hasn’t stopped former actress Stephanie from being an LGBTQ ally. I hope things settle down between the Tanner sisters as soon as possible.
