Goodbye Woodsboro, hello Manhattan: for its sixth installment, the saga Yell leaves the small Californian town where everything began to settle in the Big Apple. And this change of scenery in no way diminishes the bloodthirsty desires of the mysterious masked assassin, as evidenced by the first trailer unveiled this Thursday ahead of its theatrical release on March 8.
We find the new generation presented in the previous part, released last year: Jenna Ortega, protagonist of the series-phenomenon Wednesday, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. Courteney Cox, who has played Gale Weathers since the first installment, will also be there, as well as Hayden Panettiere, whose character Kirby Reed, however, had been left for dead in a previous play…
Returns and a great absence
Following four Wes Craven-directed installments between 1996 and 2011, the duo of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett relaunched the franchise with a fifth film last year, seven years after the original filmmaker’s death. They introduced a host of new characters dealing with the masked killer, while bringing back the star trio from the first four movies: Courteney Cox, David Arquette and, of course, lead actress Neve Campbell.
But the one that lent its features to the combative Sidney Prescott will not return for this sixth installment. He had announced it last year, pointing out a seal that was too weak:
“I had the feeling that what they offered me did not correspond to the added value that I brought to this franchise for 25 years,” he had told People in particular.
“As a woman in this industry, I think it’s really important to be appreciated and to fight for it.” scream VI It will therefore be the first part of the franchise that will not feature its historical heroine.
