Nicolas Cage received some amazing news this week, and it wasn’t just the positive reception for his film, Crossing of the butchers, at the Toronto International Film Festival. Cage and his wife, Riko Shibata, celebrated the birth of their baby daughter Francesca on Wednesday. And it seems that his birth as a daughter has already influenced how Cage chooses his plans for the future, and he’s clearly heading in a different direction.
Nicolas Cage said he could fundamentally change his approach to making films for his daughter to see. while talking with the weekly entertainment in tif, The Oscar winner says:
I want to make films that bring a smile and a little laugh, absolutely. Maybe some other animated film. Show him Croods 1, Croods 2, maybe others.
Nicolas Cage has certainly varied the types of roles he has played over the course of his career, but most of his films aren’t exactly family-friendly. Earlier this year, he starred in the R-rated comedy, The unbearable weight of an enormous talent, where Cage played a fictionalized version of himself. But now the star seems to be interested in lighter meals, especially after last year. Pig, which featured an incredible interpretation of him in what was a very dark and emotional story. Her daughter’s birth occurred just before she appeared on TIFF this weekend, where she was promoting Crossing the butcher. The film is about a college dropout who teams up with bison hunters in the desert to regain peace of mind. It wasn’t clear if the 58-year-old star could attend the festival as her daughter’s birth was imminent, but she luckily managed to make the trip with her co-star Rachel Keller.
Nicolas Cage not only lent his voice to the croods franchise, he also voiced a character Spider-Man: In the Spider’s Verse. It would be a great movie to share with your daughter when she is old enough. The following, Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse, It will be released in the summer of next year, so hopefully Cage’s voiceover talent will be used soon. He hasn’t been officially announced as part of the cast of the superhero movie, but hopefully at some point he’ll be ready to return to the franchise, thanks to this newfound desire for more elder-friendly kids.
