The voice falters, but the audience is there. Renaud returned to the stage Tuesday night in Avignon. Sometimes sitting, sometimes standing, the singer ensured the show before a conquered audience. “The voice, who cares, we are going to sing to it”, assures a fan in front of the BFMTV microphone. Some have even crossed France to see her idol on stage.
Worried at first, Renaud quickly gained confidence, led by an orchestra made up of strings, an accordion and a piano, thus offering a show of just under 1h30. To the surprise of his audience, who expected to sing in his place, Renaud performed the great classics of his repertoire- mistral gagnanyou, As soon as the wind blows, Manu, Dance at the Embassy– despite his voice problems.
A 40-date tour… at least
This concert marks the start of the 40-date tour, throughout France, but also in Belgium and Switzerland, announced on Monday. A tour humorously baptized “On my ropes”. Some dates, such as the Olympia and the Casino de Paris next May, are already sold out.
It is even rumored that the singer could play an extension after this tour.
Last May, Renaud launched metic, an album of covers of great songs from the French chanson repertoire. His last tour, the Phénix tour, dates from 2016-2017 and accompanied the resurrection album, renaudcarried by tube still alive.
