Kylie Jenner had animal lovers in a frenzy over the weekend when she made an appearance at the Schiaparelli couture show in a dress that featured a huge lion’s head . While the Kylie Cosmetics founder assured followers that the piece was created with synthetic materials, many of her were put off by her authenticity, with many of her followers accusing her of promoting cruelty. As you’d expect whenever there’s a debate about the treatment of animals, PETA weighed in on the matter, as did model Irina Shayk, who wore a dress similar to Jenner’s on the runway.
In a move that may surprise some, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk called Schiaparelli’s designs “fabulously innovative” and praised the designer for not using real fur or leather in the clothes she creates. . Kim Kardashian The younger sister has arrived and what Naomi Campbell and Irina Shayk wore on the catwalk. In a statement a page 6 newkirk said:
Kylie, Naomi and Irina’s looks celebrate the beauty of wild animals and can be a statement against trophy hunting, where lions and wolves are slaughtered to satisfy human selfishness.
The organization’s opinion was the opposite of what many thought, claiming that Kylie Jenner used an animal head as a decoration for trophy hunting. However, the band apparently had no problems, as no animal materials were used in the design and Ingrid Newkirk encouraged all designers to follow Schiaparelli’s lead and “stick to 100% cruelty-free which demonstrates the ingenuity humane and prevents animal suffering.”
Irina Shayk also praised the designer and those who create wearable art, posting several photos of her. instagram with the subtitle:
I support these amazing artists who worked tirelessly, with their hands, using wool, silk and moss, to sculpt this embroidered image of the Lion and the Pride, an image that @schiaparelli invokes as he explores themes of strength. I’m honored to have been asked to also lend my art as a woman to this @danielroseberry 🖤
Those who defended Kylie Jenner’s outfit on Instagram argued that wearing a fake lion’s head was no different than wearing animal print clothes or allowing a child to have a stuffed animal.
PETA seemed to agree with these views, and this wasn’t the first time the organization had taken a somewhat surprising take on an animal-related issue. In season 7 of The walking dead , PETA awarded the zombie drama for using a CGI tiger in one of its stories instead of a real one. More recently, the honored group The guys for describing the eating of animals as “grotesque and cruel” after one of season 3’s ruder scenes (and that says a lot for this show).
This isn’t PETA’s first meeting with the Kardashian-Jenner family — the group was the focus of Kim Kardashian’s 2012 flour bombing debacle , although it has since been revealed to be an inside job. But he’s already spoken of Kylie Jenner in a positive light, praising her in 2017 for become a vegetarian . So it seems Jenner currently has two-for-two when it comes to the animal rights group.
We’re excited to see more of Kylie Jenner and the rest of her family in Season 3 of The Kardashians when it hits the TV show 2023 . Until then, you can make up for the first two seasons with a Hulu subscription .
