Mathieu Vadepied’s film, released on January 4, tells the story of a father, played by Omar Sy, who enlists in the French army in 1917 to join his forcibly recruited son.
“Another Memory”
“This film tells the story of France with another memory,” said Omar Sy, who is also a producer of Tirailleurs, on the BFMTV microphone.
The film, although far from the blockbusters, has not finished its amazing journey, since according to Gaumont, the sessions organized for schoolchildren are gaining momentum.
“Immense gratitude to those who went to see skirmishers Yesterday. Proof that together we can tell the common story with our multiple memories. You make me even more proud to have brought you this movie. You are my strength and my France”, the actor had also tweeted, the day after the film premiered.
Forgotten by French politicians for decades, Senegalese skirmishers and their heirs still today deplore the lack of recognition, particularly due to lower pensions than their French brothers in arms.
