Before the big weekend premiere for Star Trek: PicardIn the Season 3 trailer, the sci-fi franchise’s fan base was one of many mourners. the death of actress Annie Wersching which he extraordinarily assumed depicting the third iteration of the Borg Queen in the second season of the spin-off aired. With a career that began with Star Trek: EnterpriseWersching has become a beloved television star over the past two decades, earning many friends and admirers in Hollywood through his work on The noob, Polyclinic, 24, the vampire diaries, the forest, wonder fugitives, and more. Not to mention his stellar work on the acclaimed video game. The Last of Us. So it makes sense that people close to those projects shared messages of love and sadness after his passing went public.
The ever iconic star Trek veterinarian Jeri Ryan, who returned to space as Seven of Nine for Paramount+ picardyshared a instagram posts honoring Annie Wersching with a message of love and some photos, both inside and outside the Borg street.
In his stories, Ryan also shared fugitives star Ever Carradine’s connection to the GoFundMe campaign created to help Wersching’s husband, Stephen Full, and their children.
Of course, Ryan wasn’t the only person in the star Trek universe to discuss the death of Annie Wersching. picardyExecutive producers Telly Matalas and Akiva Goldsman shared the following statements with StarTrek.com:
- My heart broke when I learned that we lost Annie this morning. She made our set up a joy every day that she was there. A true professional and a beautiful human being in every way possible. – Telly Matalas
- Annie has been a gift to all of us and a joy to work with. all her star Trek the family is heartbroken. Our deepest condolences to his family. Akiva Goldman
Wersching certainly touched the lives of many people in seemingly every project he was a part of, which certainly included the legendary status game. The Last of Us, which is currently blowing up HBO’s ratings. She memorably voiced the main survivor Tess, also filmed for character motion capture. (Tess from the TV series, whose story is slightly altered, is played by Bandaged veterinarian Anna Torv.)
Neil Druckmann co-wrote and directed the game, as well as co-created the HBO series with Craig Mazin. (He also directed episodes for him, including the groundbreaking “Bill and Frank” episode.) Druckmann dedicated himself to Chirping after hearing the bad news, saying:
I just learned that my dear friend, Annie Wersching, has passed away. We just lost a beautiful artist and human being. My heart is broken. Thoughts are with your loved ones.
Druckmann followed up that post with a full celebration of Wersching, complete with photos from The Last of Us‘ aforementioned motion capture production.

The actor seen in Druckmann’s photos is iconic voice actor Troy Baker, who has played Joel in both video games thus far, as well as Ashley Johnson, the voice of Ellie. Both voice actors will appear on the TV show in separate parts, with Merle Dandridge reprising her role as Marlene. Fans were no doubt hoping that Wersching would also have a secret role.
Baker also directed Chirping with loving words about Annie Wersching and lovely pictures.

Annie Wersching will surely be missed by all of the above, and many others, both for her work in the entertainment industry and for being a tough guy inside and out. She will be missed, although we are grateful that many of her past efforts can easily be revisited.
