Fans of the beloved Fox sitcom That show from the 70s they managed to go back in time thanks to the recent launch of Netflix that the 90s show. The generation-jumping spinoff centers on Eric and Donna’s daughter Leia during a summer spent with her grandparents at Point Place, and it certainly includes cameos from most of the originals. However, that hasn’t stopped Rupp from offering his take on where Steven Hyde might be, and it seems fair enough. In his words:
I think Hyde is traveling overseas somewhere and is involved in a conspiracy theory.
Hyde traveling abroad would surely explain why he wasn’t at Point Place with the rest of his friends. Being more of a free-spirited person, with or without marijuana, he probably wanted and/or needed to figure things out, and he went where life took him.
After all, Hyde probably hasn’t spent the last 15-20 years doing manual labor. When asked if she thought he might have gone to jail, Debra Jo Rupp shared a slightly more specific view, saying:

It was really a shame that the 90s show He didn’t really explain where Hyde was, he thought it might be better in the long run, as it allows fans (and the stars themselves) to come up with their own creative ideas for what Hyde has. Hopefully if there’s a second season, and that’s important given Netflix’s cancellation habits lately, we might get a mention or two of it then. So for now, we’ll just have to go with the flow and theorize what he’s been doing since the late ’70s.
After ordering from Netflix that the 90s show to the series, Danny Masterson spoke out about continuing the series, showing his support for the series, as did Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith. She clearly couldn’t be a part of the Netflix spinoff, but at least she’s apparently remained cordial on social media. He probably has his own thoughts on Hyde’s whereabouts, although many fans may not want to hear it.
Meanwhile, after the stars gathered on the red carpet for that the 90s show, it was as if nothing had changed and the nostalgia was at its peak. Although the reviews of that the 90s show mixed together, no one can really deny that the show has a knack for nailing nostalgic vibes. It should be interesting to see what happens in a possible second season and who else might show up via a guest appearance or name check.
