A myriad of deserved stars Emmy Awards 2022 Monday night, including beloved rapper / songwriter Lizzo. The artist won the Outstanding Competition program for her exhibition, Watch out for the big Grrrls (Transmissible with a Amazon Prime subscription ), and delivered a passionate acceptance speech. This in itself is a nice achievement but, in the grand scheme of things, the singer is now halfway to becoming an EGOT. So Hollywood, you do a solid job giving him acting roles so that he can join the exclusive group.
Many stars aspire to become EGOTS: people who have won Emmys, Grammys, Oscars and Tony. One would think that Lizzo herself would be interested in winning the coveted title, even though she was definitely living in the moment last night. In her speech, she expressed her gratitude and also talked about what it means for her to be honored by the show. Check out the full speech, with which she shared Twitter down:
It’s for the big grrrls who now live in a world with a little more representation. Where they are treated with respect. Don’t be the bane of a fat, tired joke. Be loved. have talent be cool We do it because representation changes culture and can change lives pic.twitter.com/qpjUS2I0mOSeptember 13, 2022
Honestly, it’s hard not to consider how close the “Truth Hurts” singer is to the nickname right now. So far, only 17 stars have achieved the feat, including Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend, Mike Nichols, and Rita Moreno. And there are others who are right a price far from an EGOT . Personally, I would like to see her win the award but, again, it all depends on how many acting roles she will be able to take on in the years to come.
It might be hard to believe given her star status in the entertainment industry, but the rapper hasn’t done much in the movie business. As of this writing, she only has two movie credits to her name, one of which is the animated film. Ugly dolls. His most notable production, however, is the critically acclaimed comedy-drama. crook, who was in charge of Jennifer Lopez. It should be noted that the Detroit native also played roles for herself. In 2019, Lizzo expressed interest in playing Ursula in Disney’s live-action adaptation of The little Mermaid, although the role ultimately went to Melissa McCarthy. (She and McCarthy would have had a pleasant exchange. on the situation sometime later.)
I don’t think many would say the singer could be a force in a film or play, given the right role. As evidenced by the social media praise surrounding her Emmy win, it’s clear she has an unwavering fan base, which would likely pay to see her in productions. I think she would be perfect for some sort of romantic film (although I’m not sure a romance would prevail if the photo of her was taken with Chris Evans). And of course, if there’s no more action on the cards, you can still earn that Oscar and that Tony by contributing music to a project or even serving as a producer.
It is unclear if or when this will actually happen, but I am confident that Lizzo will reach EGOT status at some point along the way. She has already proven herself to be one of the hardest working people in show business and if she were to reach that level, she would serve to validate her efforts. Also, I’m sure that reaching the finish line would be great.
