There were dozens of articles, rumors and even a documentary. But never since allegations of sexual abuse and cannibalistic inclinations in 2021 had actor Armie Hammer spoken. He tells his version of the story for the first time, in the Air Mail online newsletter. If the actor denies wrongdoing, he takes the mea culpa on him.
“I’m here to own up to my mistakes, accept the fact that I was a bastard, that I was selfish, that I used people to make myself feel better, and when I was done, I moved on. Something else.”
Armie Hammer also evokes a childhood trauma – a pastor allegedly abused him when he was 13 years old – and sees there the origin of his interest in BDSM practices (bondage, domination, submission, sadomasochism).
“He introduced sexuality into my life in a way that was completely out of my control,” she explains.
“I swam as far as I could”
“Sexuality was presented to me in a terrifying way, without my being able to control it. Then my interests turned to: ‘I want to be in control of the situation, sexually.'”
He also tells of having attempted suicide by drowning in the ocean. “I swam as far as I could in hopes of drowning, getting hit by a boat or being eaten by a shark.”
“Then I realized that my children were still on the shore and that I couldn’t do this to my children,” she adds. Armie Hammer has two children with his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers, from whom he has been separated since 2020.
Armie Hammer also mentions in this interview having worked on himself, to solve his addictions. “Now I am a healthier, happier and more balanced person. I can be there for my children like I never have been… I am so grateful for my life, my recovery and everything else… I would not want to go back and undo everything that happened to me.”
