Pedro Pascal and SNL have reimagined Mario Kart as a serious HBO adaptation, and the trailer looks great

With the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us Receiving high praise and a second season renewal, lead actor Pedro Pascal was chosen as host. Saturday night live this week. The brilliant actor, who has garnered rave reviews for his dramatic work, showed his comedic side last night and was a hit with fans as he played everything from an Italian waiter to an overprotective mother. However, it was his turn as Mario that really went viral.

Instead of doing a Chris Pratt-style adaptation of Mario, Pascal and the sl The cast made a mock trailer for an HBO adaptation of Mario Kart, and it’s as gritty as you’d expect. It’s set in a dystopian future populated by all of Mario’s beloved characters, except now they’re emotionally complex and bisexual. Look…

First, we can stop and acknowledge Saturday night liveThe production design department, the props and everyone working on visuals for the show? It’s amazing what these teams do in just a few days to gather background information. I’m not saying it is Avatarsbut for a comedy sketch that could do much less, that was too many for so long.

Second, it just goes to show why all franchises want Pedro Pascal. He stole so many scenes during his multi-episode run game of Thrones. Then it was absolutely brilliant drug dealers. Then she made us all fall in love with a boy with a mask the Mandalorian. Now she crushes him again The Last of Us. I know this Mario Kart trailer is fake and obviously absurd, but if it were real and Pascal was the protagonist, people would be showing up in droves to see the first episode. I am very happy for him and for all the professional successes he has had over the past ten years.

In other news, the sl The cast continues to reunite and bring forth new voices. Ahead of the season, frontman Lorne Michaels called it a transitional year as the show lost big names including Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and more. Cecily Strong also left mid-season, leaving Kenan Thompson as the only Weekend Update host with over seven years of experience. Fortunately, that remaining airtime has been eagerly tapped by new voices, and the series is starting to find a new collective voice.

sl He hasn’t revealed many of his upcoming guests, but he did tell fans yesterday that Woody Harrelson will return for the next live episode on Feb. 25. He will join the Five Timers Club; so expect lots of surprise appearances from other celebrities who have hosted five times. Be excited.
