How Lisa Marie Presley’s Daughter Riley Keough Would Have Felt About Grandma Priscilla Presley Disputing Her Late Mother’s Will

Lisa Marie Presley’s death has sparked a legal battle between the late singer’s estate and her mother Priscilla Presley. Elvis’ ex-wife disputes her daughter’s will, claiming one document may not be authentic. While Priscilla claimed she was trying to keep her family together, now Lisa Marie’s daughter is said to be at odds with her grandmother and “disappointed” by the current situation.

Under the current terms of Lisa Marie Presley’s last will, her daughter Riley Keough will act as estate trustee. However, it is the signature on a 2016 document that transferred guardianship from Priscilla to Riley that Priscilla Presley is currently contesting. This will almost certainly lead to a legal dispute within the Presley family, according to a source. The Eastern Period is disappointing for Riley, as she simply wants to fulfill her mother’s wishes for her.

While a statement from Priscilla Presley following her decision to contest the will expressed a desire to keep the family together, the source says Riley sees her grandmother’s actions as the polar opposite. The source also says that Riley and Priscilla aren’t currently close, but Riley wants to change that, even though this legal issue may be getting in the way.

Last month, Priscilla Presley filed papers against Lisa Marie’s will. Prior to 2016, Priscilla was one of her daughter’s estate trustees, but a document newly discovered in 2016 shifts that responsibility to Lisa Marie’s children Riley and Benjamin Keough. Benjamin died in 2020, leaving Riley as sole director.

Priscilla says there are irregularities in this new document, including that the signature on it does not match Lisa Marie’s signature, and that the document was not previously delivered to her, as it should have been under the previous terms of the trust . Priscilla requests that she and Riley be joint directors, as Priscilla’s other former director, her business manager Barry Siegel, plans to step down.

Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon for battles over money and its control to erupt after someone’s death. We recently witnessed a similar situation following the death of actress Anne Heche. Since Heche had no will, there was a dispute over who should be responsible for her estate. Eventually, her eldest son, Homer, was left in charge.

At this point, it appears that a judge will have to rule to end this case. If the document in question turns out to be valid, things will remain as they are and Riley will remain as real estate trustee. If there is a desire to keep the family together, hopefully no matter what, Lisa Marie Presley’s family will be able to pull through once the decision is made.
