Obviously, the visuals and suggestive nature of the film are more interesting to the director than the sex scenes. Building on much of his previous work, Soderbergh is much more interested in building tension and chemistry than choreographing explicit sequences. There is much more to the magical mike movie than the subject suggests, and the director seems more interested in building characters and stories than in exciting scenes. The director detailed his approach, saying:
Sexy is intimacy and genuine emotion. Something that feels alive and electric and has the potential for vulnerability. It can be sexy. You let someone into your heart and it’s scary. You can hurt yourself. It seems to me that the really drastic thing to do right now, instead of showing the beginning of the relationship when there’s all this heat and light from attraction, it’s easy to show people who have been married for 20 years. years for which it is still true. Soderbergh seems to take his characters and their stories seriously.
