‘You won’t break my soul’: Madonna responds to criticism for her appearance at the Grammys

The singer came under harsh criticism on social media after her appearance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. She just responded on Instagram to her detractors.

Madonna on Tuesday denounced the “misogyny and intolerance” of critics who took aim at her appearance, following her appearance at the Grammy Awards last Sunday. “You won’t break my soul,” launched the singer in reference to Beyoncé’s hit break my soul.

“And I’m not talking about the photographer’s zooms with his telephoto lens that would deform anyone’s face!” He added on his Instagram account. “Once again, I am a victim of the ageism and misogyny that pervades our world.”

“A Pioneer”

“This world refuses to honor women over the age of 45 and feels the need to punish them if they continue to be resolute, enterprising and daring,” continues the 64-year-old singer, who is about to go on a world tour.

“I have been criticized by the media since the beginning of my career,” she denounces. “I understand that it’s a test. I’m happy to have been a pioneer to make it easier for those who came after me.”

And Madonna concludes: “I look forward to many more years to continue to be subversive, push the limits even further and fight against the patriarchy, and above all enjoy life.”
