To the excitement and delight of millions of viewers who haven’t given up on TV yet, everyone’s favorite game shows are back with new syndicated seasons. Specially, Wheel of fortune kicked off its 40th season on September 12, with additions like Wedge Wheel XL, a new social correspondent in former guest host Maggie Sajak launch new technologically advanced puzzle . And while fans are 100% thrilled to have the comforts of Pat Sajak and Vanna White back on the small screen, it seems hardly anyone is happy with the puzzle board change, to put it mildly.
when Wheel of fortuneThe season 40 premiere was said and done, fans had a lot to say on social media, and part of the conversation centered around a debate over whether eventual winner Adriana broke the rules by restarting a response from the beginning. (She didn’t, since she technically she didn’t finish her guess of her wrong before correcting herself.) But another section of the fandom was full of complaints about the new table, with this peek serving as a pleasant, covered response to visual examination.
This photo does not capture the true and glaring ugliness of the new WoF card design. Thanks for improving this! #Wheelofffortune stats pic.twitter.com/3o51akUdauSeptember 14, 2022
Wheel of fortuneThe letter board is now essentially a large LED display, as opposed to the 52 monitor configuration used in the years following the phasing out of the physical rotating letter board from the competition. Rather than being a touchscreen, the Lidar-assisted display letters are activated when Vanna waves her hand in front of them, thanks to a pair of tracking lasers. But even though it’s a trailer on paper, viewers aren’t too happy with the new addition in action.
Here are some other snaps that show how people have strong opinions on something they love so much.
- And the new puzzle table? The font and color are not correct and it is more difficult to read. Let’s talk about wasted money! Why “fix” what isn’t broken. This also applies to the boring new acronym. (@IllinoisBrandon)
- Wheel of Fortune has changed its character and I can’t handle it. (@McIversThe)
- Fix that annoying glow you changed everything for! I shouldn’t have to adjust my TV’s brightness and contrast just to see the wheel! (@Demon_Volvagia)
- The wheel of fortune team changed the font of the dashboards and I know why it bothers me so much (@ _heyitskaty16_)
Enthusiastic fans of the new puzzle board are definitely a respite from how things went in season 39, which featured several instances where Pat Sajak was criticized for the way he treated candidates (also for its lack of pop culture recognition ), and for some dubious decisions of the judges . Now, I’m sure everyone will come back to the subject sooner or later, but for now, hitting that board is where it’s at.
- The new #WheelOfFortune dashboard is HORRIBLE! Very unpleasant. It hurts my eyes and my soul. (@MetsFanInPhilly)
- Time to tweet the elderly person. They changed the scoreboard #Wheel of fortune to a full LED display, and it looks so bad it’s off-putting. White doesn’t look white, it looks yellowish @LaVannaBlanca (@flc)
- The new Wheel of Fortune board is too bright and cartoonish. Fix it, universe. #WheelOfFortune (@dizzysyd)
- Does anyone else think dash 40 looks like someone over-sharpened the @WheelofFortune image (@dmanthinks)
To put an end to the hatred of the council, let’s take one final complaint, which touches on an issue that has been raised in other people’s posts, that the new council is forcing Vanna to walk a lot for a task that could be handled from behind the scenes. with a remote control or a click of the mouse.
I feel like I’m officially too old to tell, but I say it anyway … The new gigantic #WheelOfFortune LCD board is awful. Color isn’t great and makes it even more obvious that Vanna’s work is only relevant with older touchscreens. pic.twitter.com/m4kwTkPwSwSeptember 12, 2022
To conclude on a slightly more positive note, more people than I expected expressed their delight at seeing Pat Sajak being able to shake hands with competitors without emphasizing social distancing during filming. Ultimately, human interaction gets the better of everyone else.
