Josh Gad shared a respectful exchange after the Hulu show was accused of ripping off the Shakespearean musical from its creator.

Mel Brooks, EGOT winner graced us with his witty comedic presence with a series of sequels to one of his beloved films, History of the world, part one. This Original series from Hulu it has an all-star cast ready to pull punches at infamous moments in history. However, a Broadway musical creator suspected this upcoming comedy series was copying his Shakespearean musical, and History of the world, part II actor Josh Gad had a respectful exchange with him about it.

Something rotten! is a Broadway musical about two 16th-century brothers who struggle to succeed in the acting business because of their competitor, William Shakespeare. One of its creators, John O’Farrell, had recently noticed this History of the world, part II trailer for a scene in which William Shakespeare’s humorous version of Josh Gad holds a meeting to ask if they have any ideas for him, only to ask a man to suggest songs for use in his plays. Then it switches to a Stalinist chant performed by Jack Black which shows his musical talents. O’Farrell released the Chirping that he felt that particular scene in the trailer was very similar to the one in his musical.

The Tony Awards video showed the two brothers discussing the possibility of adding melodies to their works and coming up with something called “the musical”. While the idea seems outlandish, the scene obviously turns into a flashy song. It is therefore understandable that O’Farrell believes in the similarities between them History of the world, part IIThe trailer scene and its musical are great. On the other hand, Josh Gad respectfully he answered to this music creator’s Twitter post that it’s all just a misunderstanding.

Big fan. With all due respect, the trailer takes it out of context. It’s a unique joke. No one starts singing (as far as I remember) in the Shakes skit. The trailer jumps to a completely different time. It’s literally this line and out. By the way, Something Rotten is great.

Well now you have it. The blame for all this confusion is simply the way the trailer for the Hulu series is edited. The British music writer concluded the friendly exchange by saying Thank you they Frozen voice actor for clarification.

Thanks for reaching out to Josh and it’s good to know that the trailer is giving the wrong impression. I love Mel Brooks’ work, he’s been a huge influence and I’m sure he didn’t want to copy him, but I felt I had to say something. Good luck with the film and all your projects!

I’m so glad there’s no drama between these two. After all, one of the things we know about the Hulu sitcom è Nick Kroll and the other writers banded together to make sure they could create an “open and honest” environment without worry if something was too offensive . Having to worry about a Broadway writer feeling like their musical is being ripped off would absolutely fall into that category. This eight-episode series will surely generate many opportunities to laugh and enjoy the funny moments that spanned different periods of human history.

How lucky that Mel Brook’s new series, in fact, wasn’t a scam Something rotten! Since this talented director has been in the business for 75 years, he has all the creativity in the world to come up with his gags. You can find History of the world, part IIbefore two of his episodes Hulu subscription on March 6, with two more episodes released each subsequent day through March 9.
