After Reese Witherspoon established herself as an actress, she branched out into many other roles, such as being a producer who adapts popular books and create her own incredibly successful and respected book club. So it’s not exactly a stretch for Witherspoon to play a big book lover his latest romantic comedy, the one on Netflix your place or mine . However, it was her co-star, Ashton Kutcher who read a ton of books to prepare for the role.
When the co-stars spoke your place or mine During the film’s press conference, which 24 News Bulletin attended virtually, Ashton Kutcher revealed that he has become a bookworm mostly because of signing his first rom-com in 12 years After he almost gave up acting . In Kutcher’s words:
I don’t read a lot of fiction, but this character is a novelist, so he’s going to be widely read in fiction. And so, I ended up diving in, Aline sent me I think like 10 books before the movie. She said, “You have to read all of this.” And each of the books had notes about what Peter had gotten from that particular book, like what he had gotten as the writer of that book.
Kutcher refers to your place or minewriter/director Aline Brosh McKenna who is famous for writing such beloved films as The devil wears Prada AND 27 dresses. Since the actor’s latest role is someone who has a deep love of reading, the director gave the actor a lot of books to read before the role. When Witherspoon asked Kutcher what his favorite book of his was, Kutcher went on to say this:
When Breath Becomes Air, this book was awfully wonderful. The hi-fi was very good. I have read them all. I have read 10 books. I read them all… In fact, I fell in love with reading fiction again from that experience. It was quite fun and refreshing.
They your place or mine The writer/director also gave Reese Witherspoon some books to read, but the actress had an unexpected response to the assignment. As the actress shared:
Aline also sent me 25 books and I haven’t read any of them. So I called her and said: I have three children, I run a business, I have a full time job as a mother. I don’t read these books, but they might look great on set, and they did.
The books Brosh McKenna gave Witherspoon were old. So while they weren’t read by a certified book lover, they did find a place on the film set. It’s kind of funny that Kutcher, who shared that he’s not a huge fan of storytelling, actually made it into the books of the film, while Witherspoon had to come up with a solid excuse. I mean, that’s right, she clearly has a lot going for her and is already pretty well educated.
