Serge Lama announces that he is ending his career. the interpreter of I’m sickincluding the final album, Lovewill appear on October 7, he explains his decision on RTL, motivated by his already advanced age.

“There is a time when things stop. You have to know that you are getting old.”

At 79 years old, Serge Lama says that he no longer has the strength: “My body makes me suffer a lot. I have many problems inherent to the passage of time. There is a moment, you have to know how to stop instead of being stopped by things. So I decided that everything was over, that I had a very good life with my partner Luana”.

A song for Johnny

Serge Lama gave the best of himself in this final album: “The author that I am in this last album tried to put all his soul, throw himself like someone who throws himself into the water. I threw myself into it, I wrote songs, I think they’re pretty interesting. That way, I won’t regret it.”

A portion of this record was originally intended for Johnny Halliday. “It’s a song I wrote hoping Johnny would sing it to me. But time did not want it. The artist has since reworked the song for his own album, which is titled the men i love.

“Every day I suffer”

The singer, who has been suffering from health problems for a few years, does not want to return to the stage. “I have physical problems. They are very important, they have become unavoidable. I mean, I have pain every day. Every day I suffer, I sleep badly and it is incompatible with a tour.”

And the singer refuses to go on stage “in conditions that would not be optimal”: “I already had the opportunity to be able to sing this album, which would not be the case for everyone at almost 80 years of age, since I was still a man with a voice. So it’s difficult to live up to what we’ve been.”

Serge Lama still hopes to say goodbye to his television audience: “It would be nice. Renaud did it not long ago. He was very happy. We have to call our friends to help out a bit. And then sing songs with people.” That is making the heart vibrate, but in several, in a group, leaning on the shoulder”.
