Watch Brits 2023: preview
Recognizing the best in British and international music, the Brit Awards return for their 43rd annual event, with Mo Gilligan hosting for the second time after taking over from Jake Whitehall in 2022. A celebration of Over’s greatest musicians, records and albums the last year, in addition to Britain’s biggest, the night also promises performances from the country’s (and world’s) best. Don’t waste a second. Read our guide on how to watch English online from anywhere.
After last weekend’s Grammy Awards, Harry Styles, Lizzo, Wet Leg and Sam Smith and Kim Petras will take the stage, along with Stormzy and Lewis Capaldi.
While the Artist of the Year category is controversially dominated by men, Mo Gilligan remained refreshingly nonchalant about it, commenting that it’s “unbiased” and up to the “powers that be” choose who will be nominated. . “My job is to organize the debates, rather than expressing my opinion.”
The second year since this particular award replaced the best male and female awards for a singular and largely gender-neutral category, Gilligan added, “And the people who look at it, the kids who say, ‘Oh, I want to be like Adele or Beyoncé, or Sam Smith, they just want to be like their idols. It’s first and foremost a celebration of music.”
