Star Trek: Picard Season 3 premiered in Hollywood last week, and many of the franchise’s cast members, past and present, were there to watch the first two episodes of the upcoming season. It was an emotional night for the cast and fans in attendance, as well as an emotional night for actor Wil Wheaton. Because during the night he had an emotional moment that really struck a chord with his “humiliating” memories of past traumas.
Wil Wheaton and his wife were invited to the Star Trek: Picard season 3 premiere and the actor had the opportunity to meet many of his former co-stars from the next generation, who returned for the final season. Wheaton, who briefly reprized his role as Wesley Crusher in Season 2, unfortunately won’t appear in the new episodes. However, he was more than willing to show up and support his friends. The actor wrote about the event in his blog, including a moment that inadvertently triggered past traumas related to his days in the next generation:
Last night Anne and I went to the premiere of the last season of Star Trek Picard at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood. Before the screening began, after we’d all settled into our seats, Terry Matalas and Alex Kurtzman introduced the show, thanked the cast and crew, and handed Patrick the spotlight. He spoke lovingly and beautifully about the whole experience the way Patrick Stewart we all love. When he finished his remarks, he said, “I’d like to ask the actors here to stand,” so they too can celebrate. I remembered how humiliating it was, how it hurt, those times Rick Berman would deliberately let me sit while everyone stood, those times Rick Berman made me feel exactly what my father made me feel: unwelcome, unworthy, invisible. It’s not a good feeling.
The actor explained that the ex star Trek executive producer Rick Berman made him feel like an outsider within the cast. He wasn’t the only member of the Emigrate Neither did the family who did this, as Wheaton wrote about an unpleasant encounter he had with William Shatner when the former child star came to visit between takes. TNG extension.
Fortunately, the The next generation The actors have often gone out of their way to make Wil Wheaton feel welcome and cared for. Apparently, old habits die hard too, according to the next part of Wheaton’s story. It seems like co-star Jonathan Frakes made sure Wheaton gets some credit as well during the big night, even if he’s not a part of the cast. And honestly, this whole scenario can bring tears to your eyes:
But last night wasn’t for me. Yes, I have a wonderful cameo in season 2, but I’m not in season 3. And last night was about season three. It was about celebrating my family, who have come together for what is probably their last mission together. So I was happy to stay in my seat as they started to get up. I clapped my hands so hard this morning my hands still vibrate. I applauded not only their work this season, but everything they have brought to Star Trek for over thirty years. I have kept the absolute hell out of my family. And as I did so, I looked across the aisle at Frakes and cheered. We made eye contact and he looked at me in disbelief. “Why are you sitting? Get up, W! he said. So I did, and he encouraged me, and maybe I cried a little. Or maybe a lot.

Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut shared how LeVar Burton’s family has welcomed her.
It’s great to hear Wil Wheaton talk about what this gesture has meant to him and how proud he is of his friends as the world waits to broadcast. Star Trek: Picard Season 3. Paramount+ subscribers will also be thrilled to see Jean-Luc Picard reunite with his old team and see beloved characters like Seven of Nine earn well-deserved promotions within Starfleet.
Although Wil Wheaton doesn’t appear in Star Trek: Picard Season 3, his recent return as Wesley Crusher has left the door open for future appearances. In fact, your “watcher” status allows you to appear on any of the shows that are currently or soon to be airing. Emigrate series if the producers see fit to include the character. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing a lot more Wesley in the future. We already know the showrunners like it lower decksMike McMahan is interested in using Wheaton in episodes, so hopefully he gets a chance to return to the franchise sooner rather than later and continue to get the recognition he deserves in the process.
