Magnum IP it was back in the early evening 2023 TV premiere schedule what seemed impossible less than a year ago since the show’s inception canceled by CBS after the season 4 finale . NBC stepped in to save the show after a strong fan drive that extended to funding a billboard in Times Square. Now that season five is more episodes away, actor Stephen Hill sat down with Gossipify to reflect on the support from fans (including this billboard) and looks forward to his hopes for the show’s future.
Stephen Hill returned to TV as TC, the role he originated on CBS and brought to NBC, much to the delight of fans around the world. The months between the initial cancellation and the Thomas Magnum worthy save on NBC were filled with fans looking for ways to campaign for a season 5, as well as stars responding like the odds began to get better and better .
With season five in full swing, Stephen Hill asked Gossipify whether or not the fan campaign has changed their perspective on the show and how to play TC.
No, because he had been in contact with many fans. I’m probably the most connected with the fans on the show, simply because I have more time. Jay [Hernandez] he is lost [Weeks] I work a lot more than me. zach [Knighton] He has three children and two of them are newborns. They don’t have time to message fans like me, so I knew about the card before it happened. I heard they sent her flowers to NBC before that happened.
They Magnum IP The fandom has certainly done its best to hope for the best and trend on social media, including a Times Square billboard with the iconic red Ferrari and an all-caps message: “SAVE MAGNUM PI.” While actress Amy Hill (who plays Kumu) I had no idea about Billboard before it debuted , Stephen Hill knew this very well and, months later, it still means a lot to him. He continued:
I was there with them every step of the way. And I appreciate that because it really made me feel so appreciated and loved in the moments when it was your darkest hour, when you’re looking for some kind of understanding. So when they canceled us, it was like, ‘What?’ It took my breath away, but the fans cheered me on. They were the wind under my wings, so I’m very grateful to them.
Fortunately, there was some light after the darkest hour when the hope of a Magnum IP the future seemed to be gone forever. NBC renewed the show for two more seasons and returned to production in time for Magnum and Co. to return to prime time early in the new year. Whether the billboard was a major factor in the renovation may never be known, but it worked to stimulate Stephen Hill.
So even if you knew about the billboard beforehand, what was your reaction when you saw it? After all, the images were circulating on social media once the billboard was unveiled and Stephen Hill shared a funny story about why his Times Square location was a hit for him and his hopes for the future, saying :
It was amazing! Especially since the corner she was at was around the corner from the local restaurant where she worked. I used to work at Carmine’s on 44th Street, so it’s good to see this increase, because I haven’t been on any of the Magnum boards yet. You know, I hope one of these days the cast will be there and really show the diversity of the show. But to be represented by that billboard across the street where he would go around people’s spaghetti and ask them how many meatballs they wanted was amazing.
Magnum IP Promotional images tend to focus on Jay Hernandez’s Thomas Magnum and Perdita Weeks’ Juliet Higgins, but perhaps the spotlight will one day extend to the set as well! Only time will tell; Season 5 has definitely kept all the characters busy.
In the next new episode, titled “Welcome to Heaven, Now Die!” and airing March 12, Rick and TC will be on a mission…but not the one they faced overseas. They will join forces to search for Robert II after the rat is missing, and according to the promo, another kind of discovery could occur, with o without Kumu as what Amy Hill calls her “voice of reason”. To take a look at:
