Fox 9-1-1 he finally came back after his winter hiatus and the mid-season premiere was wonderful. Mostly, fans were nervous after Buck was struck by lightning (and, yes, you read that right). With season 6 just after halfway through, it seems like the show isn’t looking to hit the jackpot for the remaining episodes. And there are apparently still a few surprises in store, including a visit from an unexpected character, although we can already rule out a face known as the person in question.
Season 6 of 9-1-1 it’s already seen some big surprises, like Bobby’s tragic turn at the end of the midseason finale. And if that’s not enough, the next episode will be “What If?” road, because Buck’s coma will place him in a dream world. People may now be more excited for this character’s return, which executive producer Kristen Reidel talked about during her interview with TV Online. She didn’t give too many details, but the teaser provided by the producer should excite fans:
It’s a spoiler for the future. We’ll see someone in the finale that we knew many seasons ago, and that unexpected person will come back in a way that I think is great.
In the years, 9-1-1 saw the characters come and go, much to the shock and sadness of fans. So it’s hard to predict who will reappear, even if it appears to be someone viewers initially met in the early seasons. And obviously, from a narrative perspective, you also have to consider how and who will be returning. Could development be kickstarted by another emergency at the end of the season? It’s unclear, but what we do know for sure, thanks to Kristen Reidel, is that it’s not a former lead actor ticking the box:

Connie Britton played receptionist Abby, who also became Buck’s love interest during the first season of the emergency room drama. Though she left the show after Season 1, Britton returned in the Season 3 finale, during which Abby and Buck had an in-depth conversation and thus received some much-needed closure. Given her previous role as her, it’s somewhat disappointing to learn that she’s not returning to the series. I’m always thrilled when producers reintroduce someone.
We can probably rule out Buck’s ex Taylor since the two broke up last season and had some difficult situations leading up to this split. One possibility could be Henrietta’s ex, Eva. Hen and Karen’s son Denny sees his father more often and since Eva is his biological mother, this growing bond could give him the means to reappear. Of course, I could be wrong here. Based on Kristen Reidel’s comments, it’s going to be some time for this development to happen, so you can bet fans (like me) are speculating until then.
