Warning: Spoilers ahead for the March 12 episode. Magnum IP on NBC, titled “Welcome to Heaven, Now Die!”
Magnum IP he eventually returned to television in Calendar of previews 2023 after its longest hiatus, but the drama hasn’t missed a beat with its characters since. be canceled by CBS and then saved by NBC . The final episode had a few subplots to keep the series regulars busy; In an unexpected twist, it was the uninterested life-or-death story that changed the game. TC and Rick have officially discovered that Magnum and Higgins are in a secret relationship, and actor Stephen Hill opened up about the story and what Miggy’s reveal means for the band going forward.
While Magnum and Gordon track down a missing man revealed to be linked to the mob, and while Higgins and Kumu look for someone who killed a dog, Rick and TC have their own quest for the boarding house. Rick had come out of his box of pillows to make pancakes and accidentally released Robert II from his cage. The two war heroes repeatedly searched the house and found nothing but a necklace under Magnum’s bed which made them suspect he was seeing someone secretly.
Cue the revelation! After Robert II was found safely with rat-sized pancakes, Higgins reclaimed the necklace of him, and TC and Rick connected the dots, with TC declaring it a “game changer.” While this story may get more serious in the future, there was a lot of laughter about the TC/Rick conspiracy this week. Speaking to Gossipify, star Stephen Hill, who has played the helicopter pilot since the beginning, spoke for the first time about starring in lighter stories at times as opposed to much darker developments. Hill explained that he calls it “turning corners” or “playing music,” then clarified:
Even within a scene, I like to say ‘Hey, what’s up guys?’ If I know I’m going dark, I want to have a smile first, so it gives it layers and texture, but it’s really cool, especially TC and Rick, or Stephen and Zach. [Knighton] – we can participate in these little side missions, right?… We participate in these side missions, a bit like Scooby and Shaggy. [laughs]
The side quest for TC and Rick of “Welcome To Paradise, Now Die!” worked to not only provide some levity to counter the much more serious storylines elsewhere in the episode, but also to allow Magnum’s best friends to discover the truth about Miggy. They didn’t even need a Velma to team up like Scooby-Doo and Shaggy would! Although Stephen Hill’s comments got me thinking: who would be Scooby and who would be Shaggy?
The two Magnum IP After all, the characters are definitely a lot braver than the animated mystery solvers! Seriously, Stephen Hill then shared what he likes about the show and how he strikes a balance. The actor said:
We have these funny little moments, but we both individually have very heartfelt emotional moments on the show. If we were just comic relief, I might not appreciate it as much. But [with] the fact that we have comic relief at one point and then we have poignant moments at another point or a whole episode of that, I think we have an amazing balance. And being a Libra, I like that balance.
Naturally, the character dynamics were a bit different in Season 5, with Magnum and Higgins keeping their relationship under wraps. Kumu (played by Amy Hill, who recently revealed this he feels more connected to the fans this season ) came close to finding out the truth several times, first at the boarding house during the premiere, then this episode when he realized the boys were suddenly becoming friends with Magnum. the actress did describe her as the “voice of reason” of the show for good reason! Now that Rick and TC know Miggy’s secret, Stephen Hill steps in for the time-consuming twist:
I think TC and Rick definitely knew they had feelings for each other. Everyone could see it. Kumu could see it too, Katsumoto could see it too. Everyone could see that there was some chemistry between the two of them, but it’s really nice, especially for the fans who have been supporting him for so long, to finally get to see a little behind the scenes.
Stephen Hill has been open about his appreciation from fans and even reflected on his support. meant to him in the “darkest hour” after Magnum IP Cancellation of and before NBC taped. According to him, it’s “really cool” that fans can finally see Magnum and Higgins together. Also, given their comments from previous seasons, Rick and TC definitely qualify as fans of the universe! However, that doesn’t mean the status quo shouldn’t change, and Hill has addressed changes along the way:
It radically changes the way we interact around it. It’s like everyone frequents Robin’s Nest. Now it’s like, ‘Oh wait a minute, I think we might have to go home.’ [laughs] It might be time for us to get out of here! Every time [in] a group of guys, one of them is getting married or [a relationship], time like this shifts from something every day to something weekend and maybe every other weekend. So I think we’ll see how this team handles this new information and this new relationship.
Will there be problems on Miggy’s forehead that could also lead to complications? Perdita Weeks shared her thoughts on the difference between the two characters. came close to their relationship after the big kiss . Here’s hoping fans can still enjoy some “boy time” between the three brothers in arms, as well as this season’s extra dose of romance.
