Star Trek: Picard Season 3 connects with many fans of the next generation and there are people who talk about future adventures with beloved characters from the past. With Kate Mulgrew talking about her desire to return to live action and fans still talking about a Traveler movie in the works, it seems like an obvious idea to make a Emigrate Paramount+ Exclusive Movie. So why hasn’t that happened yet? Gossipify might have an idea, thanks to our recent interview with actor/director Jonathan Frakes.
I spoke to Jonathan Frakes about it Star Trek: Picard and his wonderful recent stints as Will Riker, and we also discuss the future of the franchise, with Discovery AND picardy END. The door is open for Paramount+ to bring more Trek shows and maybe even do some sort of direct-to-air feature. When I asked Frakes what the odds were of this happening and why we hadn’t heard of something similar being used, he said the following:
I know Paramount+ has the TV franchise and Paramount has the movie franchise. I could be wrong, but I guess that’s the divide between the film and television divisions.
Jonathan Frakes, who directed Star Trek: First Contact AND Insurrection in the past, implied that it was unlikely that a star Trek the films will be made specifically for Paramount+. The main studio apparently intends to stay star Trek film on the big screen, although the franchise has not released anything since then Beyond arrived in 2016.
Paramount and various creatives have been working on a piece star Trek film set in the Kelvin universe, but met many obstacles to get there. When I asked if they looked like the only kind of Emigrate the films we will see will take place in the Kelvin universe, Jonathan Frakes had this to say:
This is my understanding.
Jonathan Frakes can only present information that he is currently aware of, so it is unclear if this is the true position on the current situation. star Trek. That said, it would be rather disappointing to know for sure that there’s no chance Paramount+ movies will be made in light of the reports from Discovery end, as it would be a great way to continue giving fans more adventures in the future.
primordial films+ for star Trek it would also present an opportunity for films that are in high demand by fans, but perhaps lack the broad mainstream appeal to warrant a feature film on the big screen. However, if Jonathan Frakes is right that Paramount+ won’t be making any movies, the chances of standalone features being made are slim to none.
Of course, it’s unclear how quickly the behind-the-scenes conversations could change, and if Paramount isn’t on the verge of doing so just yet. star Trek 4 by the end of 2023, we could have a Emigrate film differently. I know that I always have a heart to one day make Quentin Tarantino’s movie, as crazy as that sounds.
Get a Paramount+ subscription to watch Jonathan Frakes in new episodes of Star Trek: Picard Thursday the third season. The actor gives a performance that I think was award winning, but viewers can tune in to Paramount+ (opens in a new tab) and judge for yourself.
