Spoilers ahead for episode 3 of The blacklist Season 10, titled “The Four Guns”.
The latest episode of The blacklist sent the elite team of agents (also as newcomer Siya Malik ) in an unexpected direction: chasing pickpockets. However, they were no ordinary pickpockets and their thefts contributed to a near-death experience for Senator Panabaker. In truth Blacklist Style, all was not as it seemed, and Red (James Spader) had his own plot: get Robert Vesco (Stacy Keach) out of jail, just in time for next week’s 200th episode. Keach spoke to Gossipify about the next milestone!
Of course, Red found a way to get his old mentor out of jail (where has Vesco been since season 9 ) in a way no one could have predicted: a poisoned copy of Oliver Twist this landed Vesco in the hospital, from where it was much easier to smuggle him out than behind bars. When they met, Keach wasn’t quite ready to believe that she wouldn’t poison him again despite what Stacy Keach described as the “certain mark of morality” they have in common while Red insisted that Vesco was a guest and not a prisoner.
Then Red pulled out a copy of treasure island, who informed Vesco that his former apprentice had a plot involving treasure. Red hasn’t started sharing details, but with episode 200 slated for March 19, he’s safe to say something big is in store. After all, the The 100th episode produced a memorable heist in 2018 and 150 in 2020 left clues about Katarina . While Stacy Keach hasn’t revealed all the spoilers about what’s to come in the 200th episode, she did share what it was like for him to be a part of this milestone in The blacklistsaid:
It was so special! It was before she got COVID. It was a wonderful day. I remember the party very well. It’s a real milestone, 200 episodes. It is truly a great achievement. I was very proud to be a part of it.
Stacy Keach contracted COVID while filming The blacklist Season 10 (and had good things to say about being in the “bosom of NBC and The blacklist recover”), but he remembers filming the 200th episode as a rather special experience. And it stands to reason that Vesco is back for this episode. After all, he was Red’s mentor and with the series which ends after the current season 10 the 200th episode will be the last major milestone.
So how dynamic will the duo of con artists be now that they’ve reunited for episode 200? NBC’s episode description suggests that Red’s treasure hunt will involve some tough clues; From what Stacy Keach had to say about her latest fling with James Spader, they might be more evil than dynamic together. Keach shared that it was “amazing” and “absolutely” fun to work with Spader again, then explained how to play Vesco in Spader’s Reddington:
[James Spader as Red] He has a wonderful sense of humour. She has a fierce wit and a devilish sense of irony. I think it’s one of the things I shared with him, and my shared representation of Vesco, that they weren’t just common criminals. They were unique, especially in the area of intelligence and wit, and that really appealed to me.
How evil it will be The blacklist to get with episode 200 on March 19? Fans will have to wait until next week’s milestone to see how much the show taps into that quality that Red and Vesco have in common, but I think it’s fair to say it will be fun to watch…at least partially.
