London Fashion Week couldn’t end without a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. The last parades took place on Tuesday after five days of celebrations, and the British designer Richard Quinn took advantage of his to salute the memory of the sovereign, who died on September 8 at the age of 96.
The 31-year-old fashion designer dedicated his collection to the monarch and staged his show on a circular podium, in the center of which screens project archival images of the Queen of England. The first 23 outfits in this collection were all black. The models wore veils to hide their faces.

As specified by guardianReporting the information, the color of the outfits was reminiscent of the black that Queen Victoria used for half her life to mourn her husband, Prince Albert, and the veils symbolized those that Elizabeth II and her younger sister, Margaret, used in the funeral of his father, King George VI, in 1952.
Richard Quinn said he created these 23 new outfits within 10 days of news of the Queen’s death, working night shifts. During the parade, he also presented the originally planned colorful outfits.
The designer said the Queen had touched him “like so many others with her grace and kindness”. Because he had met her in 2018, when she went in person to attend one of her fashion shows and present him with the first Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. Since then, she has dressed many international celebrities, from Amal Clooney to Kendall Jenner and Kylie Minogue.
London Fashion Week has been rocked by the queen’s death, ten days before its launch. The British Fashion Council (BFC), which oversees fashion week, has called for the cancellation of side parties, shows scheduled on the day of the funeral and the closure of stores on the same day. Some houses have made the decision to cancel their shows, such as Burberry and Raf Simons.
