Danger! is one of the most watched game shows on television and has avid fans who enjoy watching the contestants test their knowledge and win huge cash prizes every day of the week. Although the structure of the show has remained essentially the same over the years, producers have considered modifying slightly how competitors traditionally make money on the show. This change is interesting and former contestant Buzzy Cohen has some concerns.
The series wants to add a cash bonus to contestants who correctly answer all questions in a specific category, known as the “category leader”. This is an impressive feat that can only be achieved by competitors with extensive specific knowledge in a given field. Buzzy Cohen was recently questioned about his thoughts on the proposed change when he appeared on The Danger inside! Podcast (opens in a new tab)and had mixed feelings, expressing concern about its effect on competitive strategy.
I think people like the idea of a bonus. My guess is, is this a bonus that will affect your game play or your total game score?
When podcast hosts made it clear that this price adjustment would only be a small end-of-game bonus and not a play factor, Buzzy Cohen seemed to somehow accept the idea. In his words:
I think the fandom would appreciate it because it doesn’t exactly affect gameplay, it’s just a little gimmick.
Danger! Fans can be at the forefront of the rules, so it’s no surprise that they weigh the pros and cons of any alleged rule changes and discuss how it will affect the game. Fans recently pulled their hair out after host Ken Jennings showed favoritism. to a competitor by allowing him to correct his answer. Some even pulled out the rules to see if the move was allowed. Viewers are understandably incredibly passionate about the mainstay of the network, which has worked so well for so long.
However, fans may have to get used to the changes coming to the game. Executive Producer Michael Davies recently announced the addition of a series of “Triple Jeopardy” to the premiere during the celebrity danger tournament. The change is currently temporary, but may become permanent if successful.
Buzzy Cohen is perhaps one of the best people to talk to about the rules that can affect the game. The former contestant earned $ 164,603 in his nine games on the show in 2016. He’s back for the tournament of champions in 2019 and won, taking home another $ 250,000. The winning contestant then returned to the famous contest to host the 2021 Contents. So he clearly knows a thing or two about the game and how even the smallest change can affect how the toughest competitors play. Cohen recently commented on how changing the tournament by allowing competitors with the highest previous earnings to go straight to the quarter-finals could be detrimental to the players. This change is significant as the 2022 version of the event will feature some of the biggest Danger! winners of all time.
We will have to wait and see how the changes affect the players of the beloved game show. Season 39 has started, so be sure to check your local listings to find out when it airs. And, of course, keep an eye on 24 News Bulletin 2022’s TV lineup for information on what other shows are coming this fall.
