The Night Agent’s Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan have crazy ideas for a second season and beyond

Netflix spoilers the agent of the night He is waiting for us, so read at your own risk.

the agent of the nightwhich is one of the newer entries in Netflix TV show 2023 , was a resounding success with the public. Created by Shawn Ryan and based on Matthew Quirk’s book of the same name, the show takes audiences on a journey filled with action, heart, and political intrigue. Central to the story are FBI agent Peter Sutherland, played by Gabriel Basso, and former tech company owner Rose Larkin, played by Luciane Buchanan. The season finale leaves both characters in interesting positions that would definitely be worth exploring in the future. Though a renewal has yet to be announced, Basso and Buchanan already have some crazy ideas for season two and beyond.

Peter and Rose’s paths intertwined when the latter called Peter on the White House Night Action hotline after witnessing her aunt and uncle being murdered. From there, the unlikely pair uncovered a plot involving Rose’s relatives, who were night watchmen. They later found out that the Vice President (Christopher Shyer) e Chief of Staff (played by Hong Chau) planned to assassinate a former terrorist in an attack that also involved the president. Ultimately, Rose and Peter, along with a few allies, managed to thwart the plan, and the latter was selected to join Night Action. Meanwhile, Rose has chosen to return to California to rebuild his business. The two, who have been romantically involved throughout the season, part ways in the final moments of the finale, sharing a kiss before Peter sets off on a new mission.

It’s fair to assume that should a second season happen, Peter will still be the focus of the show. One can only imagine what awaits him as an agent, but Gabriel Basso made me a bold proposition when I spoke to him to celebrate the drama’s debut. In short, the actor strongly believes that his character must die sooner or later. (Yes, you read that right.) It’s shocking, but Basso’s comments on this possibility are very thoughtful:

In my head, I think Peter has to die, and maybe not in season 2, maybe in season 3. I just think that having morals and looking for truths and values in a field, in a profession where the more flexible your values, you know, malleable, the better you would be an agent, makes you an enemy to your employers. So I think having values and taking a stand and saying, “But he’s wrong,” he sets you up to be betrayed or die.

Even her co-star was surprised to hear those words coming out of her colleague’s mouth. However, when you really think about it, she makes sense. Peter works in a world full of questionable people, and since he’s proven that his moral fiber can’t be broken, others may see him as a burden. In a sense, even his death would be a full cycle moment, as it would somehow align with his father’s. When Peter was a teenager, Sutherland Sr. was labeled a traitor and died shortly before his innocence could be proven. But eventually, Peter found out that his father had had trouble with foreign agents, but he admitted it and was killed because he was supposed to be a triple agent for the United States.

As for Luciane Buchanan, she couldn’t help laughing at what awaited Rose. The writers will likely choose to keep her in California and have her business reestablished in a theoretical second season. Before we get to that, however, Buchanan hinted that her character, who has yet to deal with her family’s tragedy, is in need of some personal grooming:

I think he needs some therapy first. He needs to go to a little shelter in the woods. [to] relax, deal with all the murders. [Laughs] I shouldn’t laugh.

The New Zealand-born actress also lit up when her co-star said Rose might be taking a “spa day,” thinking her character might don a mask and sit in a circle with others and talk about her feelings. This might all sound like fun, but the computer genius could definitely use some time off after what he’s been through. Hopefully Rose and Peter can orient themselves after the events of these 10 episodes. Also, fingers crossed that Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan have a chance to reprise their roles in a second season filled with ideas as bold as the ones they shared.

the agent of the night now it’s streaming (opens in a new tab) for anyone with a Netflix subscription and, if you’re done, do yourself a favor and find out more streaming political thrillers . There are also many viable display options to consider in the TV show 2023 .
