For the most part, audiences know Ben Schwartz as a comedian or an intelligent hero. Given their roles in similar series Parks and Amusement AND space forceas well as his status as head of the Sonic the hedgehog frankly, the comedian’s CV made him laugh a lot. Schwartz continues to do this in the 2023 new movie release Renfield though this time he exudes a more evil presence when he’s unafraid of Nicolas Cage’s Dracula. It is an experience that, through creative casting sound 3could see Schwartz entering the “villain phase” of his career.
Thanks to universal print day for Renfield, I had the privilege of sitting down with Mr. Schwartz to discuss his role as the vibrantly evil Teddy Lobo. Son of crime lord Bella (Shoreh Aghdashloo), Teddy makes the usual mischief you’d expect from someone so connected to the underworld. And by mischief, I mean wielding twin pistols and a colorful Castor Troy-esque wardrobe face to face while engaging in various activities related to cocaine distribution.
It’s a performance that, quite frankly, had both of us wondering what if sound 3 wants to cash in on this mess, the powers that be may have found their Shadow the Hedgehog. Don’t take my word for it, because Ben Schwartz shared these crafty thoughts with Gossipify:
I can tell you, I think it’s time to start the naughty part of my career. Maybe now is when I just did it, because The After Party was kinda mean, and then that. I think pushing all of these things could be great.
Potentially casting him as the anti-heroic Shadow the Hedgehog isn’t due to a lack of good candidates. With sonic the hedgehog 2 the cast delivered some great A-list selections After the release of the image in 2022, there are many different names in the mix.
Still, there’s a lot of potential for the man behind Blue Blur to turn downright evil in the role that the iconic character revealed as a tease of the sequel during sound 2 END . Of course, in this regard, fans are wondering if there are any updates on what’s going on with Paramount’s Sega-produced trio.
Sadly, even with the next film slated for Christmas 2024, there isn’t much to report, at least on Ben Schwartz’s ending. But as you’ll see below, he can’t wait to debut the beloved video game characters in the next big release:

However, there is a silver lining, and it comes from a more recent status update. Before sound 3they joins The spin-off series, announced last year, has just entered production. So, there is some news to report, but not yet directly related to Ben Schwartz; although it’s safe to assume we’ll see the character of him pop up at some point in this ongoing story. At least, that’s what a true hero would do when he creates his own franchise.
Should sonic the hedgehog 3 chooses to go with another evil entry in the cast of Shadow the Hedgehog, there’s always the possibility that Ben Schwartz will return as Teddy Lobo. Yes by Renfield END is compelling enough to generate strong word-of-mouth for comedy/horror, so there may be a potential sequel on the air.
Either way, he’s destined to become an evil force on the big screen, and after seeing him start experimenting with that kind of role, it seems like the era of villains he wants to usher in could become a reality.
