Everyone seems to have their own idea of the perfect actor to direct the James Bond movie . These thoughts usually stem from various rumors and reports which, in turn, push the needle on the odds that supposedly point to which star is most favored to become the next Bond. However, now an AI engine has been given a voice and has chosen what it thinks is the perfect Bond actor. This pick isn’t a new face, but rather a current favorite, and I can’t wait to see how 007’s odds change in the wake of this announcement.
Deep Dream AI software appears to be favoring Aaron Taylor Johnson as the next 007
According to a recent report by The Times (via The daily mail ), game studio Unwind Media used DeepDream AI to create a portrait of the “perfect James Bond” and it looks suspiciously similar to High speed train Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Although it depends on who you’re talking to, foreigner Star Sam Heughan is another candidate who appears to be contributing to the digital DNA of this would-be super spy.
Apparently that’s what happens when you set the settings to the supposed “30” age range of the new Bond, along with a few additional settings. He was told to father a 007 who is “a British male under 40 who stands tall[s] Standing over 5’10” tall, the resulting image is very chilling considering Sam Heughan has spent quite a bit of time on the board speculated as the next 007.
Also, too, Taylor-Johnson is said to have already been cast as Bond , which was enough to send the rumor mill wheels flying in her favor. If the James Bond franchise were to follow this model, it would be quite unique, especially since 007’s history has shown a wide range of women who were James Bond’s equals, such as Michelle Yeoh and more recently Ana de Armas, who was probably the best part of there is no time to die.
There are many questions to ask when it comes to how AI-generated graphics build on both established specifications and the landscape of popular opinion. Also, one has to wonder how DeepDream can confuse a camera lens with a clock face; a debate that coincides with questions about why AI art can’t work well with human hands. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see if Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Charlotte Kirk’s 007 ratings start to climb as a result of this little exercise.
