Even if you’re not a huge fan of dating shows, there are probably few people out there with a Netflix subscription who don’t realize the romantic antics they appear in Love is blind every season attracts a lot of attention. In Season 4, viewers talked about the The ‘ride or die’ friendship between Bliss and Chelsea like the latter and her boyfriend, Kwame, they don’t seem to have real chemistry and a host of other topics. A big talking point right now is the live reunion which, well, most of the time it wasn’t live, but Irina has now opened up about her emotional moment during the recording and why she was “hurt”.
What did Love Is Blind’s Irina say about being “hurt” and emotional during the reunion?
There have been four cast reunions for this dating show, and I don’t know if any of them have walked away without at least one person crying over their experiences. They Love is blind reunion season 3 saw Cole sobbing positively about how it made his ex-girlfriend, Zanab, feel and when entertainment tonight spoke to Irina about her appearance at the season 4 reunion, she revealed that she had quite an emotional moment during the taping, but she doesn’t think fans saw it:
I think there was a moment, it didn’t show, but I was literally in tears when Micah was speaking because I was in that moment where I was like, ‘You know what, I’m kind of sad for everyone because I said I’m human Every single person sitting in these chairs, we are human and we are just trying to do our best. it just hurts. I often felt attacked, Micah. it just hurts. And I felt what saddened me was that people wanted to see it. People wanted to see me hurt and made fun of me. It was hard to live.
Several other spectators and I were left in the dark during Sunday’s meeting as technical difficulties prevented the stage from starting on time, and when it did only a few got to see it. The pre-recorded episode wasn’t available at the time of this writing (it’s scheduled to air on April 17 at 3pm EST), so I’m not sure if those who were able to watch it live actually saw Irina crying during the process, or if she’s right that the cameras didn’t catch her.
However, seeing how many people watch this reality show and others about the messy drama, her thinking that fans wanted to see her “hurt and ridiculed” makes sense. Irina and her teammate Micah, both he apologized publicly after the season started airing, when viewers complained about her mean girl behavior towards other women. I’ve had a lot thoughts while watching the first five episodes though my fellow viewers saw or didn’t see how insensitive the duo were when it came to each other’s feelings.
Not only were they shown laughing as other women came crying back from their dates (like with one of the Jackelina’s emotional moments ), but Irina did a crappy and somewhat cruel job of revealing to her boyfriend, Zack, that she really wasn’t interested in him once they met face-to-face. All of this aroused strong emotions in the spectators, who very much wanted to see Irina indulge in the reunion, and were booed by members of the live studio audience. She continued:
I just think people were really excited to see me roast so the waiter backed out. They got what they wanted. I think I earned it and I hope people felt the peace they wanted to experience.
The reality star admitted her demeanor on TV and then sitting down at the reunion was “pretty tough,” she seems determined to “work on myself” amid the backlash, noting that she’s “not going to let these three weeks roll in my life defines the rest of my life.Hopefully you really learn from the reaction and continue to grow.
