Benedict Cumberbatch’s character Doctor Strange has become a mainstay of the MCU since Marvel has opened up its storytelling to the multiverse. In addition to his solo films, Doctor Strange has been a more recent lead avengers even the movies, as his character’s psychic abilities acted as a major plot point infinite war AND Game over. With movies like these, Marvel has become known for creating iconic moments that get the party started in theaters. And apparently one of those moments has been taken away from fans, as Cumberbatch recently reflected in a deleted scene from infinite war which we never see.
In an interview with BBC 1 Radio, the Oscar nominee revealed he filmed an “unbelievable” scene. infinite war which ended up being cut. He went over some details of the scene with the interviewer, saying the deleted scene focused on Doctor Strange trying on Iron Man’s iconic costume. When asked if he was disappointed that the scene was ultimately cut from the movie, Cumberbatch replied:
Yes, I kind of was, we both were, it took a long time to show off these costumes put together. It was an amazing moment and I think I’m way better than ‘Iron Strange’ or ‘Doctor Man’, the other guy, ‘Strange Man’. I certainly came out better. I mean, having some of that outerwear with you is really, really, really cool. I would have liked to see what this combination of magic and technology would do. To pursue.
I’m sure the fans would love to see this idea experimented with as well. Iron Man’s technology combined with Doctor Strange’s powers could make him the most powerful superhero in the MCU. Fans are definitely missing Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, so maybe there’s a way to bring his legacy to life by incorporating the costume. The deleted scene may also be integrated in the future avengers movie like a flashback. There are so many ways to make sure the idea doesn’t fade away and turn to dust, pun intended.
There are a lot of potential stories to explore within the MCU, especially after opening up the world to the Multiverse. There are many characters who may return through different universes according to different timelines. While Tony Stark died Avengers ending, could exist in a different universe. Also, so many new heroes have been introduced sinceGame over that I would like to see interact with Stark. For example, RiRi Williams will have her own Disney+ series with Heart of stone, which will also feature a Stark-like costume, and I’d love to see how the legendary RDJ character would react to the young genius. Also, maybe this show could serve as Cumberbatch making an appearance and giving the costume another shot.
While we don’t know exactly how Doctor Strange will play out in the MCU going forward, it seems likely that he will return as Stephen Strange in Avengers: Kang Dynasty AND Avengers: Secret Wars. There were definitely some cliffhangers at the end of the last one strange doctor viewers hope to set up next avengers film, however, the plot details of these highly anticipated MCU films are still being kept under wraps.
