Issa Rae, who will play one of the many Barbies in the film, tried to avoid spoilers and, in her last attempt, ironically dropped an atomic bomb.
Even if we don’t know much Barbie, the trailer hints that Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s characters are on a road trip of some sort (the latter will also be bringing his own skates). One of the posters even revealed that Issa Rae’s version of the beloved doll is some kind of president. Don’t expect Rae to divulge anything, because he won’t confirm it even by talking to her people on Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film:
You won’t get me in trouble. i will leave it [director] Greta [Gerwig] AND [star] Margot [Robbie] take the initiative, and I shut my mouth and sit down.
I’d say it’s probably a smart move on the part of the actress, and the f-bomb puts a funny and firm exclamation point on the comedian’s decision not to go into serious detail. And personally, I don’t mind being surprised when I sit down in the cinema to watch the film. It should also be said that even if I could talk about the film, perhaps it is too complex to put into words. Issa Rae has previously said she doesn’t quite understand Barbie the plot of when did he start when he first met Greta Gerwig. Issa Rae has proven to be an incredible comedic talent, and this may be one of the main reasons why Greta Gerwig cast her in a role. I’m curious to know more about her character and I’m confident that she will be able to play her role, whatever that takes. Since the film is due out in a few months, we might know more about what we can expect from the film. But based on that last conversation, we can probably only expect more diversions, and maybe another fun bombshell or two, from Rae ahead of the premiere.
