Buckingham Palace released the first photograph of Queen Elizabeth II’s grave on Saturday, just days after her burial in the George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Elizabeth II, her husband Philip, her father George VI and her mother Elizabeth rest under a simple slab of black Belgian marble, with their names inscribed on it. The grave is surrounded by flowers and funeral wreaths.
A chapel open to the public
On Monday, after a funeral in Westminster Hall, a funeral ceremony took place in St. George’s Chapel in the presence of members of the royal family and the 15 Prime Ministers of the kingdoms who served with the British sovereign as head of state. Elizabeth II, 96, was later buried in a private ceremony at the George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Next week, the chapel will be open to the public again starting Thursday. It will cost 26.50 pounds (29.66 euros) a week and 28.50 pounds on Sunday (31.90 euros) to pay tribute to the queen.
