Singer Michel Jonasz was the victim of a scam. One of his personal assistants, in whom he had placed “all his trust” in him, and who notably managed his accounts, defrauded him of the sum of 398,000 euros, reports the parisian.
This 53-year-old woman, whose trial took place on Monday, was sentenced by the Paris court to eighteen months in prison for breach of trust and money laundering.
The events occurred between 2013 and 2019. According to the parisian, the assistant signed checks and sent transfers with the fortune of the famous singer. Money with which he then went on vacation to New York, Prague or Malta.

The accused would have alerted Michel Jonasz herself: “I could no longer live with this weight on my conscience,” she assured during the investigation. The singer, who was unaware of the scope of the diversion, would have “understood”.
But the reality would be different: another assistant would have detected the accounting errors and denounced the pranks of her colleague. The defendant must return the full amount, at the risk of seeing its suspension revoked in the event of non-payment.
