Henri Joyeux receives a new ban from practicing medicine for anti-vaccine positions

The oncology professor is once again banned from practicing medicine for two years starting in 2024, due to his support of positions considered fallacious by the medical community.

Professor Henri Joyeux is finally banned from practicing medicine for two years after false statements against certain vaccines, while a previous radiation had been canceled a few years ago, according to a document sent on Monday by the Order of Physicians.

“The sanction of prohibition from practicing medicine for a period of two years is imposed on Professor Joyeux”, starting in 2024, according to a decision of the national disciplinary chamber of the Order of Physicians, revealed for the first time by the news site doctors Egora.

Several years of conflict with the doctors’ order.

This radiation is the latest step in a series that has pitted Henri Joyeux, known for multiplying medically unfounded positions, with the Order of Physicians for years. At the heart of the matter, two petitions published on the Internet in September 2014 and May 2015 by Henri Joyeux.

The first went against a recommendation from the Higher Council of Public Health, never followed by the government, which advocated reducing the age of vaccination against the papillomavirus for girls from 11 to 9 years old.

The second criticized the replacement of the trivalent DTPolio vaccine (that is, which protects against three diseases, diphtheria, tetanus and polio) with a hexavalent vaccine (which protects against six diseases), due to risks supposedly related to the presence of aluminum in this last.

First cancellation canceled

Following these statements, the National Council had already disqualified Henri Joyeux for two years in 2016, but this decision was overturned by the disciplinary chamber, which operates independently of the council. The case reached the Council of State, which annulled the decision of the disciplinary chamber in 2019, opening the way for a new procedure.

It was in the end that the court, this time, effectively dismissed Henri Joyeux. He expressed himself “in an alarmist manner, without being based on data acquired by science,” according to the chamber, which also accuses him of “alarming parents of young children through the use of controversial formulas.”

Professor Joyeux, who also spread misinformation about Covid, is also the subject of proceedings in other cases, in particular regarding clandestine clinical trials surrounding Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

The medicines agency (ANSM) banned these trials, but the administrative courts overturned this decision, leading the ANSM to appeal to the Council of State. The latter’s decision is still awaited.
