“Denial is irresponsible and inaction is culpable.” Two days after the resignation of the Minister of Health and on the eve of the end-of-year holidays, the Interhospital Collective (CIH), which defends the French public hospital, alerted Emmanuel Macron and his government about the state of the Health system. .
“The Interhospital Collective expresses its deepest concern about the state of our health system and its ability to provide care to the population,” they wrote in a press release.
Although it assures that the nursing staff of the public hospital will do everything possible to welcome and care for patients “whatever their social condition, their origin, their nationality, their religion or political opinion”, the group has highlighted the deterioration of the reception. and the conditions of care, at the center of a “catastrophic situation derived from the health policies carried out by successive governments.”
The wrong priorities of the government
On Wednesday, the Minister of Health, Aurélien Rousseau, presented his resignation, in reaction to the vote on the immigration law, significantly toughened in the joint committee compared to the initial version and supported by the National Rally. He was immediately replaced “interimly” by the delegate minister in charge of health professions, Agnès Firmin Le Bodo.
A situation that the Interhospital Collective deplores: “The CIH is concerned because there is no longer a titular Minister of Health in this critical situation and highlights that health is one of the main concerns of the inhabitants of this country, far ahead of immigration . or restriction of access to State Medical Aid, contrary to the values of caregivers.”
Closing of hospital beds, emergency services, flight of health workers… The CIH wanted to make Emmanuel Macron “face his responsibilities” by insisting that “access to health is a fundamental right” endangered by “policies applied for several years”. ”.
