As of January 1, in accordance with the Government’s commitments, fixed remuneration will be increased for work on Sundays and holidays and for night work by hospital staff, according to two texts published this Saturday, December 23 in the Diario Official.
“As an extension of the agreement relating to the public hospital service within the framework of the ‘Ségur de la santé'”, compensation for night work will be increased by 25%, according to a decree. And “the fixed remuneration for working on Sundays and holidays” increases from 44.89 euros to 60 euros on January 1, according to a decree.

More than 6,700 hospital beds closed
On August 31, the Government announced a total increase of more than one billion euros for carers, in particular in favor of night and Sunday work, in response to the hospital environment and, in particular, emergencies, in permanent crisis since Many years ago.
To retain paramedical staff, “we will increase the remuneration of caregivers and nurses by 25%,” announced Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne. For non-medical staff, the government planned a 20% increase in Sunday work allowance.
The publication of these revaluations occurs a few days after a new report from the statistics department of the Social Ministries (Drees), published on Wednesday, which establishes that in 2022 more than 6,700 complete hospital beds will be closed.
The shortage of personnel partly explains, according to the Drees, this drop in reception capacities, almost constant since the early 2000s, according to data from the Irdes (Institute for Research and Documentation in Health Economics).
Terminal in charge of linking with pharmacists
These bed closures cause saturation of services, put pressure on teams and increase tensions in emergency services, health workers periodically denounce.
The health sector was shaken again this week by the sudden resignation of its minister Aurélien Rousseau, in disagreement with the immigration law approved in a stormy atmosphere on Tuesday.
Another decree published on Saturday provides that Agnès Firmin Le Bodo, appointed interim minister, will not deal with issues related to the “profession of regular pharmacist”, exercising this activity herself. These powers “are exercised by the Prime Minister,” this text states.
