Presentation of chemical products: the Order of Physicians asks for reimbursement of detection tests

This measure would aim, according to doctors, to “encourage more victims to get tested quickly” after a suspected chemical submission.

The National Council of the College of Physicians (Cnom) called on public authorities on Thursday, October 24, to make “accessible and reimbursable” the tests that allow the detection of a chemical presentation, even without filing a complaint, to improve the care of potential victims.

Chemical subjugation involves the administration of psychoactive substances to an individual, often a woman, without her knowledge, for purposes including assault and rape.

Today, the cost of “tests and analyzes” to detect these substances can “reach 1,000 euros” and “the only way to obtain reimbursement for these tests is to file a complaint,” laments the Cnom in a statement.

“However, people who are victims of chemical submission rarely do so, in part because of the amnesia that can occur during administration. Many factors greatly complicate the process of filing a complaint and make intervention even more necessary. Detection early and accessible to all patients, without resource conditions,” he continues.

“Encourage more victims to get tested”

Furthermore, these tests “can only be performed in laboratories that are experts in toxicology.”

“Physicians, often on the front lines of receiving and supporting these victims, must be trained to identify the signs of chemical submission, but above all they must have the necessary tools to confirm its presence,” the Order maintains.

Paying for these tests with a prescription through Health Insurance “would encourage more victims to get tested quickly, thus strengthening their access to justice and adequate care,” he insists, underlining “the seriousness and urgency” of this ” public health problem”.

The emblematic Mazan trial, in the south of France, in which 51 men are being tried, including Dominique Pelicot, a septuagenarian who recruited dozens of men on the Internet to rape his wife, drugged with anxiolytics for ten years at home of the couple. – put the focus on chemical submission.

The phenomenon also became public when centrist deputy Sandrine Josso filed a complaint in November 2023 against senator Joël Guerriau, whom she accuses of having drugged her with a view to sexually assaulting her.
