The Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR) has finally ruled. The investigation into the government’s management of the Covid-19 crisis is closed, announces Attorney General Rémy Heitz, confirming the information provided this Monday, December 30, by Franceinfo.
And although the investigations focused on both former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe and former Health Ministers Agnès Buzyn and Olivier Véran, the CJR, the only body authorized to try members of the government for acts committed during their mandate, does not announce no accusation. The three former members of the government are simply under the status of assisted witnesses.
The absence of accusations paves the way for a probable dismissal of the case.
The investigation was opened in July 2020 for “endangering the lives of other people”, in particular following several complaints, some of which were filed shortly after the start of confinement in March 2020.
