A first contact with the caregivers. The new Minister of Health, Yannick Neuder, went to the Pitié Salpêtrière hospital in Paris this Monday, January 1, to visit the health workers, the first in France.
Appointed at the end of December in the government of François Bayrou, the minister from LR was especially anticipated due to the issue of emergency services, saturated during this winter period.
Train “more health professionals”
Without making a concrete announcement, he promised “attractive measures” for caregivers, citing in particular improvements in “the rhythm and time of work”, in “working conditions” but also in “safety”.
“There is nothing more incredible when you go to take care of others than to be attacked yourself,” he lamented.
In France, 37% of hospital health professionals say they suffer physical attacks periodically. This figure rises to 84% for caregivers, according to a 2022 MNH-Odoxa barometer.
“We need to train more health professionals,” the Minister of Health also requested, upon returning from a trip to Mayotte with the Prime Minister.
The trained cardiologist also estimated that public authorities could relieve the hospital system through “prevention work,” citing the reduction of cardiovascular risk factors and cancer screening.
