Lorient: A 94 -year -old woman

Victim of a “head wound and multiple fractures” after a fall, a non -agenario spent more than 30 years on a stretcher in the emergency room.

“An ordinary day in the emergency room of the Scorff Hospital in Lorient.” The story, published on social networks, has aroused indignation: that of a 94 -year -old lady who spent more than 30 hours on a stretcher in the emergency room of the Lorient Hospital, told by her nephew and transmitted by Ouest -France.

Victim of a bad fall on the stairs, the firefighters attended it on Sunday, February 16, early in the afternoon, at home. Transported to the emergency room, “wait several hours before an evaluation is carried out: important head and multiple fractures,” he details his nephew on Facebook.

“The hours rush and their helpless children turn with her while they expect a doctor to inform them about their mother’s health,” he added.

“Important Activity”

But you will have to wait until the next day, after being transferred to your runner stretcher in the emergency room, to get a place in a room. A situation that arouses animated outrage in the comments of the Facebook publication.

Questioned by Ouster-France about this situation, the management of the Scorff Hospital evokes “an important emergency activity”, especially due to winter epidemics.

“Our teams have strengthened to provide the best possible management of patients and all additional beds in the winter system are open,” added the hospital group.

But the CFDT Intersyndicale of the Health Center is pointing to its side “The lack of hospitalization beds, downstream. For several years, we have reduced beds in hospitals (…) That’s why that stagnates in the halls.”
