Every last hour in front of a screen increases the risks of myopia in children, according to a study

Experts estimate that 40% of children around the world could be myopic by 2050.

Less screen time and more time outside. This is what Korean researchers who have carried out a meta -analysis of 45 studies recommend, related to the impact of children’s use, the British newspaper The Guardian reports.

According to this meta -analysis, every hour additional passed by a child in front of a screen increases its risks of becoming myopic. Only an hour a day of exposure to screens increases the risk that children develop a myopia at 5%, compared to those who do not have screen time, experts conclude.

Although myopia is part of genetic origin, other factors can participate in the development of this vision disorder, such as spending more time on screens and not enough time outside.

This combination of time dedicated to the interior and prolonged use of screens can create generations of myopic children. According to experts who have achieved meta -analysis, 40% of children worldwide could be affected by 2050.

Children who spend more than four hours a day in front of a screen, compared to those who do not spend time in front of a screen, see their risk of increasing the increase by 97%.

In addition, the team of researchers affirms that for children and a myopes, an additional time screen was associated with the risk of seeing their 54%visualization vision.

On the other hand, below one hour a day, the researchers did not find an association between the use of children in children and the increase in the risk of myopia, which could suggest a security threshold for less than an hour.
