Food poisoning in AISNE: 17 children now identified, the carnicero department of a supermarket closed as a precaution

Three new cases of food poisoning have been identified in children in AISNE, which carries the total number of cases to 17 at the moment. The carnicero department of a supermarket has been closed as a precaution, while four establishments are already closed by samples.

Three new cases of severe food poisoning were recorded on the night of Saturday, June 22 on Sunday, June 22, the Prefecture announced, specifying that a new butcher department in a supermarket had been closed preventively.

This leads to 17 the number of polluted children, who have been victims of severe digestive problems, with Glairo wandering diarrhea, and most of which lives in the agglomeration of Saint-Quentin, according to the prefecture.

None of the three new cases detected has developed hemolytic and uremic (SHU) syndrome, which until now touched eight children, including a 12 -year -old boy who died on Monday.

Of these 17 young patients, four were able to leave the hospital and recover their homes. But all are “continuous medical monitoring,” said the prefecture.

Samples in progress

The samples are underway on the shelves of the carniceros of two supermarkets in the agglomeration of Saint-Quentin, one more compared to the previous point of the prefecture situation on Saturday night.

The Prefecture had already announced on Friday the preventive closure of four butchers of Saint-Quentin, where samples were also taken. The first results of the analysis should be known at the beginning of next week.

The decision to suspend these butchers “is taken on the basis of the investigations on the consumption of each of the intoxicated people,” said the prefecture, emphasizing that “at this stage, the most likely cause of contamination is the consumption of meat.”

The origin of meats “is not yet known”

“The origin of the meat is not yet known, it is necessary to take into account all the places where one or more contaminated people consumed,” the prefecture justified.

However, these butchers do not have a common supplier, a spokesman for Aisne Prefecture in France-Presse (AFP) said on Saturday, which can complicate the search for the origin of pollution.

Rare infectious disease, “more often of food origin”, shu occurs in most cases as a complication of poisoning to a bacterium of the family of Escherichia coli (E. coli). It affects 100 to 165 children in France each year, according to Public Health France.
