Three cases of food poisoning linked to the Escherichia Coli (E. coli) bacteria were announced, with respect to two children and an older person, this Tuesday, June 24, the Aisne Prefecture. This leads to 22 the number of people affected so far.
This is the first time that an elderly has been affected since the appearance of the first cases in the Saint -Fiscal Aglomeration on June 12. The other 21 cases refer to children, including a 12 -year -old daughter who died on June 16.
Ten still hospitalized people
These three new cases compared to the previous situation point on Monday did not develop hemolytic and uremic (SHU) syndrome, a serious complication that affects the kidneys and required dialysis treatment, the prefecture said.
To date, “ten people remain hospitalized, four of which are dialysis. Once could leave the hospital and return home,” he added. All children are subject to “continuous medical monitoring.”

Current meat analysis
Suspecting a food infection linked to the meat, the authorities have closed preventively since last week four Halal butchers and two rays of supermarkets of the Saint-Quentin agglomeration. The samples taken from these places of sale are still in progress.
Food surveys on the origin of pollution made in recent days “have not highlighted new businesses,” said the Prefecture.
An open investigation
The meat resulting from the establishments now closed was served during the Football Tournament Festival Des Petites, organized on Saturday and Sunday in Saint-Quentin, as well as during a mini-baseball festival on Saturday in Gauchy, a neighboring city.
The new cases of pollution announced on Tuesday have no connection with these two sporting events, said a prefecture spokesman.
Parallel to health research, the prosecution of Saint-Quentin opened a preliminary investigation against X last week by the prosecution of Saint-Recanin for involuntary homicide, involuntary injuries, endangering the lives of others and deception in the goods that present a danger to human life.
