In Lille, in the north, a somewhat special seal adorns the office of a general practitioner. Jean-Philippe Platel, president of the Northern Medical Order, often trusts what he calls “absurd certificates.”
“For example, for school absence that should not be justified by a certificate, universities and secondary schools have diverted the system saying” we do not ask for role for the school, but for the canteen. “It is the hyper French administration pushed to the extreme,” denounces the doctor with BFMTV.
2 million “absurd” consultations
In the visitor of health professionals are also the certificates requested by sports clubs, insurance or even employers to stop stops during the deficiency period, while the worker is not paid in all cases.
“These are consultations that should not be honored and reimbursed (by health insurance, editor’s note) because it is not careful, it is prevention,” according to him.
Acts that, according to doctors, engulf their medical offices. “This is a problem for patients because, together with that, we will reject other people,” he is alarmed by Mickael Rochoy, general practitioner of Outfut (Pas-de-Calais).
“If people have already had the experience (…) to call five to 20 doctors and have denied themselves so much, the situation is also linked to these problems of absurd certificates that make it malcraced medical time and that could be used for patients,” explains the general practitioner.
The latter estimates that every year in France, around 2 million consultations are related to a certificate considered absurd.
