“Our life depends on it.” In a Facebook post Thursday, Guilhem Gallart, a former Fonky Family DJ known as Pone, expressed concern about possible power outages that could occur in private homes this winter.
Suffering from Charcot’s disease since 2015 and permanently on a tracheotomy in his bed, he is equipped with respirators, tracheal suction and mucus suction. However, according to him, only respirators have batteries. “Vacuum cleaners (which are vital), no,” he added.
Guilhem Gallart continued: “What Enedis officially says is that if we don’t have enough to protect us from a power outage, in other words from a generator, we will be evacuated to a hospital, for the two-hour rest.”
It is this possibility that worries the former DJ. According to him, about thirty people are registered in his sector “as vital priority people with Enedis”, which, from a logistical point of view, would make the task impossible for nursing staff. In fact, Guilhem Gallart recalled that, to get to the hospital, “a complete SAMU team with his truck” had to be requisitioned.
For this reason, the 49-year-old from Toulouse, recently awarded a Knight of Arts and Letters, appealed: “I ask the authorities, or Enedis, to either install generators for us during power cuts, or not to cut off our electricity, our lives depend on it’s.”
