Social Democratic deputy Joaquim Pinto Moreira was charged this Thursday by the DIAP of Porto with two crimes of passive corruption, one of influence and one of violation of urban rules, in the context of the so-called Operation Vortex.
The news is brought forward by SIC, who had access to the indictment.
Also according to that television station, Pinto Moreira has already been heard by the Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DIAP) of Porto and must pay 200,000 euros bail, because he is not allowed to contact the other defendants in this trial, which also includes the former – Mayor of Espinho, Miguel Reis.
He has also been charged in this trial, specifically with four crimes of passive corruption and five of subterfuge.
Operation Vortex investigates alleged corruption in Espinho’s Chamber. According to the PJ, it is “examining real estate projects and associated permits, involving multi-family homes and hotel units [em Espinho, autarquia que Pinto Moreira liderou entre 2009 e 2021]involving urban interests worth tens of millions of euros, processed for the benefit of certain market participants”.
